This is a book about a girl, Kelley Brennan, whose life takes a swerve when a car crash happens. She and her mother are coming back from school and work. Kelley sees her mother trying to cross a red light and Kelley yells for her to stop, but they crash with a lumber truck. She remembers rolling under the dashboard... the engine exploding... the car catching on fire... and ending up at the hospital. Some of her body has a third degree burn, the rest has a second degree burn. The nurses and doctors have to give her skin grafts, Jobsts (kind of like a cast, but to prevent swelling) on her hand and leg. She feels like dying rather than going through so much pain. The book was really sad, so I do not recommend this book to people who do not like very realistic sadness.
